“Learning is a piece of cake – with the right recipe”. This idea is always embedded in our teachers' minds whenever we get together to contemplate on our lesson plans. The issue is how to make learning more interesting as well as increasing students' engagement in the process of language learning. Therefore, the use of technology and how it could be incorporated into a lively language teaching environment has also been one of the main aims of our annual teachers' training. On 21st November 2022, we had the opportunity to invite Dr. Andrina Lou to give us a workshop on the professional development of our English teachers. Our workshop this year focused on speaking.

Speaking activities in the classroom involve the teaching of technical dimension and social dimension. The workshop includes teachers' sharing their experiences of speaking lessons, a mini lecture on speaking, and finally the introduction to a great language learning website “Moo-O”, which can address students' learning issues such as motivation, confidence in speaking, and so on. Besides, teachers were assigned to work in different groups and different roles in their stories.

In the pictures, our teachers were energized and very active in contributing ideas in group discussions and felt exhilarated acting out their stories chapter by chapter. The workshop couldn't have run so smoothly without their enthusiastic participation. Actually, we were all astonised at how creative and interactive the speaking class can be.
